The last time I visited the Porcelain Garden, I didn't have a single idea for what to buy. So naturally, I asked the owner, Korrin, for a suggestion, seeing as we weren't complete strangers anymore. "Purple irises," was all he said before he got to work quickly cutting stems of the fresh flowers and wrapping them in delicate bouquet paper. I watched him work quietly from my place on the other side of the counter, not particularly minding that he didn't even wait for my approval before preparing the flowers. "Why purple irises?" I asked as he rang up my order. "Nothing special, I'll admit," he said simply. "It's going to be $13.74. The wrapping is on the house." I smiled as Korrin handed me the bouquet and I gave him my card. "How nice of you." The buttons of the cash register clicked loudly as he pushed each one, but suddenly, he paused and turned to face me. "Don't get me wrong, I'm just trying to get rid of them," he said plainly. "But I also thought they would be nice for you to draw." I paused. "Oh? So you do care." The receipt was shoved into my hand, along with my card, but I was more focused on laughing as he quickly ushered me out of the store.
